Houston shops love this question: can we throw a UniFi Building Bridge between the office and the warehouse and call it done? Sometimes yes. Sometimes you just bought a fair-weather link and named it a network.
Ubiquiti rates the UBB to 500 m with clear line of sight. Main radio is 60 GHz (up to about 1.7 Gbps). Backup radio is 5 GHz (under 1 Gbps). One GbE copper port per end. PoE on both sides. Think of it as a trunk between two switches when the sky is clear and nothing is in the beam.
Houston weather is the part the brochure skips. 60 GHz hates heavy rain. When the main link fades, the pair falls to the 5 GHz backup. Cameras and Talk still work for a lot of sites. Big file sync and peak camera load will feel it. If the far building cannot lose bandwidth during a storm, you are shopping fiber, not a wireless PtP.
Line of sight is not “I can see the other roof from the parking lot.” Trees, new signs, a truck parked wrong, and a metal awning all count. Align it, lock the mounts, and leave room for a PoE switch and the right VLANs on the far side. Cameras, phones, and office Wi-Fi should not share one flat network just because the bridge looks like a cable.
Do not confuse this with a UniFi Device Bridge Switch. That is a Wi-Fi 7 client-uplink switch for a desk or cart. It is not a building-to-building link. Wave and other longer PtP gear exist when distance or weather says UBB is the wrong box. You buy the gear from the Ui Store. JDM invoices labor.
